  •  CPLE Power of Reading - The Power of Reading in the Early Years brings together best practice from the Power of Reading and Early Years research. It is fully aligned with the main Power of Reading programme, so that practice is consistent throughout the school setting.   • Mentally Healthy School - The course is aimed specifically at Senior Leaders and focuses on reflection of current provision and strategic planning to help develop a mentally healthy school. Leading a Mentally Healthy School aims:
    • To enable and empower senior leaders to put mental health at the heart of strategic school improvement.
    • To equip senior leaders with practical and sustainable approaches that can be implemented on return to school.

  • Teaching Inference and Deduction - A training session looking at how reading comprehension skills - especially inference and deduction - can be taught to children from KS1 to KS2. The session would look at a range of practical/creative strategies for developing children's understanding of a range of texts - including using talk, pictures and role play. The session would also aim to develop teachers' own confidence in analysing texts and outline possible methods for teaching key strategies such as skimming, scanning and close reading.

  • Inclusive Art - A practical day for staff to develop the artistic skills of children with disabilities, looking at engagement, independence and access.  Suitable for those working with children of any age.

  • Manual Handling Training - A certificated course – valid for 18 months Covers both the theory and practical activities relating to  manual handling techniques for children with a physical difficulty.

  • Story Curriculum - A morning looking at how storytelling can raise the attachment of disadvantaged children in attainment group. Why stories are important and how stories can form the basis of creative planning in the EYFS and use of narrative. Supporting characteristics of effective learning.

10th October 2018 - 9:30am - 12:00pm, Highfield Hub, Ipswich, IP1 5DW. Cost £45

  • Practical Storytelling - Helicopter Stories - We are offering in collaboration with Make Believe Arts a full day’s practical storytelling training to develop key curriculum areas such as creativity, communication and language, personal, social and emotional skills in the Early Years and Key Stage 1 classrooms, with Isla Hill, Education Director of the wonderful Make Believe Arts.

  • Elklan Training 3-5's - Elklan's evidence based Speech and Language Support for 3-5s is our highly successful externally accredited training course which equips staff to develop these key communication skills in children proved to ensure later success in school. This is the only accredited training in speech, language and communication that is aimed specifically at those working with 3-5s.The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) in England and other UK curricula recognise communication and language as one of the three prime areas for learning and development.

  • Supporting All Pupils with Hearing Impairment - A course providing tips and techniques for working with children with any degree of Hearing Impairment. Suitable for those working with children of any age. 

5th November 2018 - 9:30am - 12:30pm - Thomas Wolsey School, Ipswich - Cost £40

  • Growth Mindset -This course will look at what growth mindset really means and how we can embed it in our settings. It looks at the key principles of growth mindset and the key language needed to give effective feedback. It looks at how growth mindset can be crucial to our AFL and how we can create uncapped learning opportunities. The course also looks at how to overcome potential barriers in day to day situations.
